The appropriate dues have been paid
It seems that in Matt's family, there is an unspoken rule. At some point while using a nail gun, you must shoot yourself. Matt got off lucky. While working on the bathroom, he was holding a 2x4 to skab in where the new tub will be. The nail missed the board. There is debate whether it was the nail or something else went through his hand ("something else" is currently winning 2 votes to 1), but something definitely did. There are entrance and an exit holes. Happily it didn't hurt too bad and it only delayed dinner by about 3 minutes. Maybe next time he will be more careful with the nail gun.
Christmas 2010
Christmas at our house was great! Everybody got a lot of presents and had a ton of fun. Here are some of the highlights from Christmas at our house.
The last 3 pictures above are videos, you can click to see the whole thing. Here is my favorite though:

Catchup from Smithfield
A lot has happened in Smithfield. We don't do real good updating the blog though. Rather than tell all of the stories, here are some pictures of what has been happening in our lives.

Heather's blog
Heather became a consultant for Shelf Reliance, a food storage and emergency preparedness company. She recently started a blog to share recipes and tips for people cooking with their food storage. The food is great, and unlike this blog, it gets updated regularly. Check it out at http://cookingwithmyfoodstorage.blogspot.com/.

Farewell facebook.....
I've been reading around the internet about Facebook's disregard (disdain?) for user's privacy. It got me to start thinking about whether I need my facebook account or not. Not really is the answer I came to. So in response to their lack of privacy, I have decided to stop using it completely. My account will remain through the end of the week so people can see my little message indicating it is going away, after that I will follow the instructions here to delete my account (they only want you to de-activate which leaves you info available, deleting is more involved).
If you don't want to read all of the links above, here is a fantastic, graphical representation of Facebook's privacy policy over the years.
I will still have the same e-mail address(es), phone number, IM accounts, etc. Feel free to contact me via one of those and/or find updates here on this blog.

Food Storage
Our Latest News
Recently Matt and I have been feeling like we needed to beef up our food storage, so when we ran into a girl selling Thrive food and shelf reliance shelf we were interested. I went to her party (it is a direct sales company). I was super impressed. The freeze dried foods were excellent in quality and after some comparison shopping I found almost always cheaper and sometimes a LOT cheaper then any other local source. We decided to purchase some and when it arrived we really liked it. So much so that we decided that I would become a consultant. Niels and Christi were my first order (thanks for your support!) I have thought about direct sales before but they always seemed to be a rip off for everyone. This is actually a product people would buy anyways at a great price and consultant/host benefits are good. I chose to do this because I don’t feel like anybody is getting ripped off.
We don’t want to pressure anyone but if you are curious about it, we are having a party. You can come sample the food and get more info on Thursday April 22 at 6:30 at our house. Let me know if you want to come and I will send you an e-vite. If you are interested in throwing your own party I would be happy to do that too. The host benefits are great.
If you have no idea what Thrive is, they make food storage. The thing we like is that there are a lot of different options that make using/rotating your food storage possible (mangoes, pineapples, green beans, corn, etc). They do a lot of fruits and vegetables. If you want to check out what is available you can see it at the website. If you are interested in anything, let me know and I can get you pricing (direct sales pricing is significantly cheaper than website pricing).
